Here's the article:A UNIVERSITI Teknologi Malaysia (UTM) researcher made the country proud when he clinched a gold award for developing a behavioural profile detector software at an exhibition in Germany recently.
The invention by former Johor National Park Corporation director Hashim Yusoff, 50, impressed judges who were captivated by the accuracy of the software's readings which could help police solve crimes.
The software, called Polydetech, is used together with a polygraph machine.
"It will tabulate one's heart beat, respiration and perspiration readings before categorising the person into three different groups - angel, human or demon," he said.
Hashim developed the software with the help of Prof Dr Ahamad Zaki Abu Bakar and Prof Dr Rose Alinda Alias.
Employers could also use the software to "select" the right candidates.
Hashim said the idea to develop the software came in 2002 when he was studying about polygraph machines at the Maryland Institute of Criminal Justice in the United States.
"I dare say Polydetect has an accuracy rate of between 85 and 95 per cent."
Hashim, who spent RM300,000 to develop the software, said it was available in Bahasa Malaysia, English, Chinese and Tamil.
At the exhibition, UTM grabbed two other gold awards, three silver and two bronze awards.
